Mahalo Gozaimasu 5-Panel Pāpale is a fundraiser for ka ʻohana Kaio traveling to Japan to offset their travel costs.

This pāpale combines both ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi and Japanese to simply say, “Thank you very much” for your support. Featured on this pāpale is the torii gate. Torii distinguish sacred grounds from the human world, serving as the threshold that separates the spiritual from the mundane. In our hula tradition, the oli komo (entrance chant) allows us to cross this threshold, entering the spiritual space of the hālau hula and leaving the mundane world behind. This pāpale is a small symbol of the many connections we share with the people and culture of Japan.
